PVJ-TOUCH

Three-layer VJ mixer for TouchDesigner.

A lightweight live mixer component: video, TouchDesigner patches, GLSL shaders, Blender scenes and the PVJ phone stream, beat-synced and fully playable from the keyboard. First played live at a club VJ set in September 2026.

SOURCES

Video	Clip banks with static thumbnails, ready to cue.
TouchDesigner patches	Drop in your own .tox components as live sources.
GLSL shaders	Load fragment shaders straight into a layer.
Blender	Live Blender scenes through the TD–Blender Bridge over Spout.
PVJ	The picture from PVJ on your phone, streamed over the PVJ link.

How it plays

FEATURES

THREE LAYERS, ONE MASTER

Mix three layers of any source into a master output, with live previews of each layer and the master and nothing else drawing on the GPU.

DUAL OUTPUT + LED LINK

Two projector or screen outputs, each with its own source select: send Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3 or the master to either one. Plus an LED link that drives LED panels over DDP alongside the projectors.

LOCKED TO THE MUSIC

Beat tracking from the audio input with EssentiaTD by Darien Brito, with tap tempo as a fallback. Clock dividers drive an auto-sequencer on each layer.

KEYBOARD FIRST

Every function is playable from the computer keyboard alone, so a laptop is enough for a show. Controllers map onto the same key layout.

CONTROLLER READY

Mappings for the Akai APC mini mk2, Melbourne Instruments Roto-Control and a macropad.

LIGHTWEIGHT

Built to leave headroom on a laptop GPU: static thumbnails in the browser, live rendering only where you are looking.

PAIRS WITH PVJ

Run PVJ on a phone as a fourth hand: its output arrives in TouchDesigner as a regular source you can mix and effect.

Before you start

REQUIREMENTS

Software	TouchDesigner. The tested build will be listed with the download.
System	Windows with a dedicated GPU recommended. The Blender bridge uses Spout, which is Windows only.
Outputs	Up to two projectors or screens, each fed from L1, L2, L3 or the master, plus LED panels over DDP (e.g. a WLED or MatrixPortal controller on the network).
Beat tracking	EssentiaTD, the free audio-analysis plugin by Darien Brito, plus an audio input. Tap tempo works without it. If it helps your shows too, support Darien on Patreon.
PVJ link	PVJ Pro on an Android phone on the same network (coming soon).
